Pirate's Cove is tiny and tight. The entrance is narrow with hidden shallows on either side. The former home of the murderous cult of Brother XII and Madame Zee, this picturesque cove was worth the work, although we didn't bargain on Sunday night being a full house. We had been looking forward to the solitude of a weekday anchorage.
Convincing a full-keeled sailboat to turn around and back into a parking space is not a simple task. We are on a boat that believes in open water and forward progress. I think the boat felt just as cramped in pirates cove as I did.
To anchor, we had to stern-tie. We dropped our main anchor and then backed between another pair of boats. I quickly took a line to shore while Jiayu fed it cleanly from its bag. We put it through a ring designed for the purpose and then brought it back to the boat. The line keeps us from swinging around our anchor. It worked. It was our first attempt and it came off smoothly.
It feels good to have that over with. One more skill one step closer to being learned.

The walking trails and views of Ruxton Pass more than made up for the tightness of the anchorage. We stayed two nights and took some much needed rest.
